Couples Corner

One way to create shared meaning in your relationship is to dream together as a couple. Sharing your dreams with one another brings you closer and gives the relationship a sense of purpose. The article "30 Conversation Starters For Spouses to Dream Together" lists questions that you and your spouse can ask one another to help you discuss your dreams and desires. Here are a few of the questions:

What kind of legacy do you want our marriage to reflect?

What is your dream job?

What makes you cry happy tears?

What are you most proud of in our relationship?

What is the most meaningful thing we have accomplished together?

Individual Corner

As we approach a new year, it is inevitable that we will be hearing, seeing, and reading things about setting and keeping New Year's resolutions. While some people find setting resolutions beneficial to helping them achieve their goals, others experience a great deal of stress and anxiety as they try to live up to the expectations that they set for themselves. If you're tired of resolutions, the article "10 Alternatives to New Year's Resolutions" provides some unique suggestions. Creating a bucket list and creating a list of things you are looking forward to in the year to come are two of the suggestions. Picking one word to guide your year in order to help you maintain focus on what you really want is another suggestion.

Both of these organizations' websites are sources of education and support as well.

So, what is infertility? Infertility, as defined by The International Committee for Monitoring Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ICMART), is a disease characterized by the failure to establish a clinical pregnancy after 12 months of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse or due to an impairment of a person’s capacity to reproduce either as an individual or with his/her partner. Fertility interventions may be initiated in less than 1 year based on medical, sexual and reproductive history, age, physical findings and diagnostic testing. Infertility is a disease, which generates disability as an impairment of function.

Check back here next month for more information. In the meantime, if you would like counseling support during your family building journey, call Stephani for an appointment.
